CancerCare - Free Telephone Support Group
CancerCare offers free telephone support groups for parents of children with a cancer diagnosis. These support groups are set up like a conference call and they meet on a weekly basis for 12 weeks. Each call is moderated by a social worker.
They have found that this medium is helpful for clients in the past, as we know parents of a child with a cancer diagnosis are often extremely busy and are often unable to get out and connect to other parents. The group focuses on the emotional impact of having a child with cancer and gives parents the opportunity to connect with others who know what its like to be in their shoes in a setting that is both confidential and therapeutic.
